Since I've been having trouble coming up with design ideas for levels(not subject, but layout), I decided to learn more about sidescrollers, so I'm playing the Abuse demo right now and soon I will check out Hunter-Hunted. Any comments about these games? Also, if you can recommend any other good ones that will work under DOS or Windows, let me know. I'm still experimenting with entities and complex prefabs, as Fred knows, but I still lack the vision to be able to plan out the map itself. Still trying though.

DOS/Windows... hmmm thats really not easy. I can only remember some of them back in my 286 times... -Risky Woods -Jim Power -Turrican 2 -Gods Less action and more puzzles -Another World -Flashback -Rick Dangerous On the Snes/Megadrive you will find much more. To play them you will need either the cartridges or an emulator. On the NeoGeo you have for example the Metal Slug series. These are mostly just 2D. On DNMP you have 3D possibilities PS: Milkshape 1.7beta is out... it says the final will have some new plug-ins

Thanks for the suggestions, Raziel. I'll look into them. As far as milkshape, I e-mailed RADgametools as far as a Granny SDK for Mete to use and they basically said they were not interested in sharing it with him. Doesn't look like we'll be getting a Granny plug-in for it. But, I've come to the conclusion that someone who knows more about .dxf models might be able to figure out how to import them into Prismed. I don't know enough now though to even try.(On my list of things to try to learn) Are you still working on some levels for DNMP? Later...

Apparently granny models are just not popular enough. Maybe someone might oneday be able to port .dxf into PrismEd, but don't count on it, for the same reason. However, I have to say that my head gets filled with ideas, and I've saved some time tomorrow to start on the drawing. Those ideas mainly came from looking at levels from DNMP itself. Look at how they are build and think of some new ways to use the same effects. It's less difficult than it sounds you know. I'll keep you posted.

Fred, if you look at the import option for Prismed, it includes three file formats- .vex, .dxf, and .ase. DXF is fairly generic for a lot of models. I think the main problem may be that if there are textures assigned to it, or a skin, they must be converted to shaders in Shaderlab in order for Prismed to use them and their uv assignment. I am still researching basic modelling and how the import/export mechanism works, among all the other things I'm trying to learn.
I have a pretty vivid memory of the levels in DNMP, but trying to make something completely different, like a mall level, requires planning for the layout so that the camera positioning and gameplay remains fluid. So, I've been experimenting with layouts similar to the ones in the game and trying new ones, but some help and suggestions from those who have seen different layouts from other games could help me progress.

Why don't you just make a new shader for your model in shaderlab?

Making the shader will be the easy part. I haven't gotten that far with modeling or skinning in a modeling program that I have one ready to try to import yet. If that's what you mean! Some models I would like to use will have to be made in a modeling program, like plants, or other vehicles, etc.

Yeah, that would rock. Besides, we could make something new happen all the time (i.e.: Duke is relaxing after a battle, and then a giant plant monster appears from the plant, then you have the boss ;D)
