Hey you guys, I'm working on a tutorial for basic mapping. It should come with an example map and some screenshots. Now I need you guys' opinion. The details I handle in my tut are: - Level Design
- Auto tracks & more advanced game tracks
- Area Damage (by falling) (only outdoor)
- Sky link (only outdoor)
- Sunlight (only outdoor)
- Omni lights (only indoor)
- Key & keyhole & forcefield
- Item (in this case a gun)
- Babe
- Monster
- Security camera
- Map Change
Could you tell me if you think I'm missing details or I've handled details that aren't neccesary etc. Thnx. Also, I'm still looking for subjects for tuts, if you come up with something, please tell me.

Sounds like a well-rounded, basic tutorial. Off-hand, I can't think of anything you should add, except for the security camera(which I mentioned in my e-mail). I might suggest for your next tut that you do the same basic map, but indoors and in a solid world, to include basic brush subtraction and lighting. Keep up the good work! ;D

When you build a world that doesn't require a sky, or one that is the inside of a building(like sample map e01p01_a02_r01 from the map-pack), You can use the solid world option and subtract the space you need.(Also see my cavemaze map). You can, I believe, control the lighting calculations better by using smaller, specific lights for specific areas instead of drenching the whole map with the sun-Light. There are other advantages that I can't think of right now, but those are important enough. Cool. I think you have a solid starter-map for anyone interested in mapping. Keep up the good work.

I think that after ou make botht eh indorr and outdoor maps, you make one advanced one, with like: Secret areas Breakable walls Water Areas (like, rain, etc) Those would be useful for the ones who already know the basics (like me )
