Why do you think that is?
I think the game is pretty good. Is it too linear? Is it blasphamy to have Duke in a non-1st person environment now?
What do you think?

I do think that most players now expect at least 1st person or 3rd person, with the freedom of movement that those bring. But there are quite a few old and newer players that like platform, or sidescrolling games, and a few of them on the 3dr forums like to re-play DNMP a bit. If we were able to crank out levels regularly, and especially, if we were able to mod the game and improve the graphics to keep up with newer developments, I believe there would be a strong following for DNMP still. IMHO. Maybe not though. Have you noticed that a team of modders have been working on a sidescrolling mod for Quake 4 named HardQore? I hear it's great, but I haven't been able to get the beta to run on my comp yet.

No I haven't heard about that. Not really a quake fan though. You do have a point about the levels, but three guys with busy schedules can't do it all.
